"You like me! You REALLY like me!"

Okay, so Sally Field didn't say *exactly* those words during her acceptance speech at the 57th Academy Awards in 1984, but that is EXACTLY how I've felt over the the last few days courtesy of the many wonderful messages of support and encouragement I've received from readers since posting about SHED last week. (SHED being short for Shazzer's Hinky Eye Drama.)

Thank you so much for all the good wishes, prayers, information and advice.  It's truly appreciated.  I am trying to respond to each of you individually, but that may take awhile since I can only tolerate a certain number of hours in front of a computer screen...and most of those are taken up at work.

You see, one thing I neglected to mention in that first report is that sometime around the 17th or 18th of October I had another one of those mysterious "allergic reactions", and the vision in the right eye...which had only been slightly impaired up to that point...went to Hell in handbasket. Let's just say the original (Oct. 7) diagnosis of retinal detachment was really more of a prediction that did eventually come true.

Since then the bad eye has been fighting with the good eye, particularly when I'm trying to read or write...which is only, like, 75% of my job! Sometimes it's just easier to patch the right eye...which I figure is good training for the not-so-distant future.

Speaking of that, I'm taking nominations for pirate names.  Of those submitted by friends and family so far, my current favorite is Cap'n Rum-Jugs McScurvy. Feel free to add your own in the comments!
