    The new two-laptop minimum

    posted Wednesday, 12 March 2008

From the Dept. of Help Me Justify Another Expensive Gadget comes this article via a ComputerWorld blog:

Smart mobile professionals now have a two-laptop minimum

The only question is…will Dr. Darling buy it?

This is so true. I have a personal notebook (unfortunately "running" vista) with a 17" screen and a work notebook (XP) with a 13.3" screen. I like to Adobe on the 17" but it's a good bit larger and heavier than the 13.3, additionally the battery lasts about 75% longer in the smaller one. Because I can't do personal work on my work notebook, and I'm writing more code than cutting graphics these days I made the decision just yesterday to acquire a refurbished Macbook! This is link the perfect rationale I need to do this! Thanks for posting.

I've got a 13-inch iBook G4 that's under extended warranty for another 7 or 8 months, after which I plan to buy a bigger MacBook. (Haven't decided whether to go for a 15- or 17-inch screen). My Apple care contract has always served as the unofficial count-down clock to an upgrade. Hopefully the little G4 will continue to serve as my "road-warrior" for web stuff for many years to come!
