Today is the deadline for Americans living abroad to file their tax returns...which means I sent mine in yesterday.
The U.S. is the only industrialized nation that taxes its citizens on foreign-earned income, which in the case of ex-pats has already been taxed once in the country where they live. And here in Sweden, that income has been taxed ALOT.
Fortunately the first $80,000 earned is exempt from U.S. income tax, and since I don't make anything close to that much annually, it's really just a matter filing the paperwork...which is a hassle none-the-less.
So I'm comforting myself with chocolate and a little surf time on the Comedy Central website, where I found this exquisite video of a recent Jon Stewart interview with Angelina Jolie.
I feel MUCH better now.
