Some Vikings go Pirate!

It appears as though Pirate Party has secured at least one seat in the European parliament based on yesterday's election results here in Sweden.

As a strong supporter of having many different kinds of voices in government, I was quite delighted by this outcome even though I did not happen to cast my first-ever EU vote for their candidate.

Of course this will probably come as a surprise to some of my friends, who know me to be both an internet junkie and a vocal defender of the right to privacy (a major plank of the Pirate Party's platform).

But just imagine the expectations of the poll workers who watched me cast my ballot wearing an eye-patch.
