So *this* is what it's like to work full-time...

    posted Tuesday, 8 January 2008

For awhile there I was afraid I had forgotten how!

I returned to the office yesterday for my first full 8-hour day since the surgery, and much to my relief it didn't feel all that much different from any other time I've gone back to work after spending Christmas in the States. In other words, I was no more sluggish than usual!

By day's end I was pretty crapped out, but that's just as likely to be jetlag as anything else. My body clock is still majorly screwed up. I'm not hungry or sleepy when I should be and haven't managed to get more than five hours of sleep a night since my first one home.

I'm still a little uneasy about doing the commute in the dark, though, so I'll be taking advantage of my company's flex-time policy over the next few weeks to log my office time between 7 and 3:30. That way I'll at least be able to make the trip back to Malmö in daylight, and of course there's the added bonus of avoiding the peak traffic hours on both ends of work day.

But best of all, it will mean getting home around the same time as Dr. Darling. I suspect I could get used to that!
