Management 101 for the Electronic Age

    posted Tuesday, 23 January 2007

Here's a tip: If you're going to ask 25 colleagues around the world to send you five or six high-resolution image files by e-mail ASAP, and the company's IT department has very strict limits as to how many megs of messages that your e-mail account can have in it at any one time, don't go out-of-town for three days immediately after making the request.

And especially don't do it if said image files have to be created from historic photographs...which means digging through boxes of old pictures, scanning them, converting them from TIFF files to JPEGs, and renaming them before they can be attached to the e-mail that will ultimately be rejected from your over-flowing inbox because you're out-of-town for three days.

    Okay, I feel better now.

Just a "tad"! Of course the fact that I'm regularly in trouble with the company e-mail police over the size of my inbox may have something to do with my sensitivity on this subject!
