Simon Cowell just *might* salvage Swedish Idol

    posted Monday, 22 October 2007

I read a blurb in the newspaper this morning that TV4, the network that produces the Swedish version of the Idol talent contest franchise, has invited Über-evil judge Simon Cowell to be a guest on their own panel for an upcoming program.

No word on whether the blunt Brit will actually turn up in Stockholm...I'm guessing the guy has a pretty busy schedule. But his appearance would certainly liven up at least one episode of Sweden's sad excuse for an Idol show

And not just because I often find his brutally honest assessment of performances to be entertaining in a sick and twisted sort of way, but because the Swedish contestants might *finally* get some constructive criticism that actually helps them become better performers. Wouldn't THAT be novel?

I can't stand him or his ego. I actually read his book for a class project. It didn't give me a better opinion of him at all.

He's not my favorite person by any means...but I do think he's a realist when it comes to providing feedback to the contestants. And that's something the Swedish version of the program sorely needs. Thanks for commenting!
