The Kevin Bacon Game goes "legit"

There was a time when I absolutely RULED at the Kevin Bacon game...which applied the theory of Six Degrees of Separation to the actor's movie career. For those who were living under a rock in the mid- to late-90's, the game went like this:

Player 1 named an actor in any film from any era, and Player 2 would have to connect this person to Kevin Bacon in six movies or less.  Player 2 would then name an actor for Player 1 to connect to Mr. Bacon. The person who linked Kevin Bacon to the named actor in the fewest number of films was declared the winner.

Here's an example of how it works.  Say you're challenged to connect Katherine Hepburn to Kevin.  The progression might go something like this:  Katherine Hepburn was in "On Golden Pond" with Jane Fonda...Jane Fonda was in "Barefoot in the Park" with Robert Redford...Robert Redford was in "Indecent Proposal" with Demi Moore...and Demi Moore was in "A Few Good Men" with Kevin Bacon. There's probably a quicker way to do it, but you get the idea.

Supposedly, Kevin Bacon has always been a little embarrassed by the game. But now he's decided to embace the infamy and use it to attract attention to good causes via a new charitable website at sixdegrees.org. It allow visitors to donate directly to the causes that specific celebrities endorse, or better yet, become a celebrity for their own cause via the internet tools provided by the SixDegrees organization. It's a pretty neat concept.

But best of all, according to the video "Message from Kevin" that you can watch on the sixdegrees.org home page, anyone who visits the site is considered officially separated from him by just one degree. HOW COOL IS THAT?!!!
